About IPL Facials

Prior to your treatment, we highly recommend a consultation to ensure that this is the appropriate option for your skin. Preparing for your IPL Photofacial involves avoiding extended sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanning products for at least 2 weeks before your session. Additionally, steer clear of photosensitive medications and discontinue the use of retinols, AHAs, or exfoliating products 7 days prior. During the treatment, our skilled technician will apply a topical numbing agent for your comfort, cleanse your skin, and provide eye protection. You’ll experience a warm, rubber band-like sensation during the treatment, possibly followed by a mild sunburn feeling.

Post-treatment, there’s minimal downtime with IPL Photofacial, allowing you to resume your regular skincare routine the next day. Expect temporary redness, swelling, and a sunburn-like sensation, which typically subsides within hours. Hyperpigmentation may darken initially and then gradually flake off over the next few days. Makeup can be applied as needed during this time. For optimal results, we usually recommend a series of three treatments, spaced four weeks apart.

Why Choose an IPL Facial

  • Non-Invasive: IPL photofacial delivers significant results without the need for surgery or long recovery time.
  • Quick and Convenient: Sessions are typically completed in under and hour, making it easy to fit into your busy schedule.
  • No Downtime: Experience mild redness that usually subsides within a few hours, allowing you to return to your daily routine right away.

How an IPL Facial Works

IPL Facials utilize intense pulsed light to penetrate the skin’s surface and target imperfections in the skin. The light energy breaks down pigmentation, helps the body re-absorb blood vessels, and stimulate collagen production, resulting in clearer, smoother, and more youthful-looking skin.

Even Skin Tone: Improving the appearance of pigmentation and redness in the skin. Diminishing skin discoloration.

Improve Acne: Effectively destroying acne causing bacteria to reduce active acne and prevent future breakouts.

Anti-Aging: Stimulating collagen to improve skin elasticity, decreasing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

Ideal Candidates For IPL Facial

  • Typically more suitable for light-medium skin tones
  • Skin concerns such as pigmentation or sun spots
  • Concerns such as broken capillaries or rosacea
  • Skin concerns such as active acne

Pairing IPL with Other Treatments For Enhanced Results

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is a powerful treatment for targeting pigmentation, sun damage, and redness, helping to reveal a clearer, more even skin tone. At Pure Skin Aesthetics, we maximize the benefits of IPL by pairing it with complementary treatments for enhanced results. For skin rejuvenation, combining IPL with microneedling stimulates collagen production, improving skin texture and reducing fine lines. Exosome therapy can be added to accelerate healing and promote deeper skin renewal. The Geneo Glo2facial offers an excellent option for further exfoliation and hydration, ensuring your skin is refreshed and radiant. Additionally, pairing IPL with a chemical peel helps enhance skin clarity and smoothness, as the peel provides deeper exfoliation for a more refined complexion. Combining IPL with these treatments provides a customized solution for achieving a smoother, more youthful look.

IPL Facial Treatment

An IPL Facial is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment that uses intense pulsed light to target and reduce skin imperfections such as age spots, sun damage, and redness. The procedure stimulates collagen production, resulting in a more even skin tone and a smoother complexion.

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) works by emitting broad-spectrum light that penetrates the skin to target specific pigments and blood vessels. This light is absorbed by the unwanted pigments or vascular lesions, which are then broken down and gradually eliminated by the body’s natural processes.

IPL treatments are generally described as mildly uncomfortable rather than painful, with many patients likening the sensation to a rubber band snap against the skin. Numbing cream may be applied to help make the treatment more comfortable.

An IPL treatment can be used on various areas of the body, including the face, neck, chest, and hands, where it addresses skin imperfections like age spots and redness. It is also effective for treating larger areas like the back and legs to target vascular lesions and uneven pigmentation.

The number of IPL treatments needed to see noticeable results can vary depending on the individual’s skin condition and goals, but most people require 3 to 5 sessions. Results typically begin to appear after the first or second treatment, with optimal outcomes achieved after completing the full recommended series.

After an IPL treatment, you might experience temporary redness and mild swelling in the treated area, similar to a mild sunburn, which usually subsides within a few hours to a few days. Pigmented spots may initially darken before flaking off, and overall skin improvement becomes more visible as the skin heals and regenerates over the following weeks.

You can typically start seeing initial results from an IPL treatment within one to two weeks as the skin begins to heal and imperfections start to fade. Full results usually become apparent after several weeks, following the completion of the recommended treatment series.

Common side effects of an IPL treatment include temporary redness, mild swelling, and possible slight discomfort in the treated area. Rarely, patients may experience minor bruising, changes in pigmentation, or dryness, but these effects generally resolve within a few days to weeks.

Results from an IPL treatment can last from several months to a year, depending on factors such as skin type, the extent of skin damage, and lifestyle choices. Maintaining healthy skin practices and periodic touch-up treatments can help extend and enhance the benefits achieved.

IPL is generally effective for a range of skin types but is most suitable for individuals with lighter skin tones and darker pigmented issues. It may not be ideal for very dark skin or tanned skin due to the risk of pigmentation changes or uneven results.
